DJ MAYEVA

With a lifelong passion for World Music and Music of Black Origin, I perform as a DJ under my stage name DJ Mayeva.

I began performing and hosting world music stages at venues and festivals throughout the UK in 2006. Since then I have performed at events and venues throughout the UK, including the Croydon Summer Music Festival, the Todmorden Folk Festival, Blue Dot and Kendal Calling. I have programmed and hosted several world music festivals in Manchester, including the multi-venue Cultural Collage World Music Festival, The Lingua Franca World Music Festival at the Bridgewater Hall and the Viva Latin American Festival at HOME. In Liverpool I have appeared at the city’s River Festival and have supported Shangaan Electro at the Kazimier Gardens.  I also regularly perform at the Africa Oye Festival in Liverpool. In 2025, you can catch me at Nottingham Contemporary on 22 June (Refugee Week Party) and the Festival of Making in Blackburn (5-6 July).

I play music to suit any ambience – from laid back chilled beats from India and Morocco, through to the latest Samba and Salsa dance club sounds passing through Balkan beats, reggae and African rap along the way.

I produced and presented Cultural Collage, a monthly world music and cultural magazine programme on ALL FM 96.9 Community Radio in Manchester between 2004 and 2013.
